We are looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our software development team. You will join our core application development team in Dublin, working on our SaaS Field Service Management web platform. You will ideally have a strong background as a Python and Javascript (React) developer, though experience with other languages will be considered. Experience with cloud computing (AWS), databases (MySQL, Postgres) and event-driven systems (Kafka) are a definite plus, as are experience in the AI/ML and automated regression testing domains. You will be expected to take an active role in the continuous improvement of FieldAware’s software development lifecycle and an enthusiastic role in shaping the direction of the product and platform as it grows and matures.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and deliver new functionality on FieldAware’s product roadmap
  • Engage in regular research and investigation on how to improve FieldAware’s technology stack in terms of scalability and performance, maintainability, sophistication and overall design
  • Actively revise, review and contribute to the improvement of FieldAware’s software development lifecycle
  • Engage early in the new feature lifecycle with product management and design to identify issues that affect the development and usability of new features
  • Work with QA and product management leads to prioritize the quality, testing and release of new features and bug fixes
  • Work closely with colleagues in QA, support and customer success to collate, publish and track metrics on software reliability and usage

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated full-stack software engineer with a track record of achievement in developing and maintaining web applications
  • Strong ability and experience building web application backends, frontends, and APIs using modern web technologies' to the list of Qualifications. It's probably implied but maybe worth mentioning directly
  • Excellent coding and automated testing skills in Python and Javascript, as well as hands-on experience with databases such as MySQL and Postgres and event-driven platforms such as Kafka
  • Strong architectural software design skills especially in the areas of distributed and event-driven software platforms
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain new features and existing platforms and to collaborate with others on ensuring their continuing enhancement and quality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and data-driven approach to tracking and improving software quality and usage
  • Experience working with product management and design early in the development process to identify development and usability issues with proposed features
  • Understand the software development life cycle and can successfully work with an agile methodology where new product features are valuable to customers from the first release and then rapidly expand their functional capabilities and impact over subsequent incremental releases
  • Ability to collaborate at a high level with product managers, designers, developers, QA as well as support and customer success departments
  • 2+ years’ experience of software development in a web development environment
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in software or related technical discipline
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux, Kafka and AWS is a major plus
  • Knowledge of the field service management industry is a plus
  • Experience working with distributed teams is a plus

Candidates will be expected to initially work in our Dublin office. We have a hybrid working model with two core days in our offices at The Masonry in Dublin 8 (https://iconicoffices.ie/locations/the-masonry/). We are very conscious of providing flexibility to employees in terms of how and where they work and are happy to discuss different arrangements based on group and individual need over time.

We will also consider remote-only applicants based in Ireland and the UK on a case-by-case basis.
